Benue State Police Command has arrested over 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, murderers, cultists and recovered arms and ammunition from their hideouts. Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Abass, said: “The command achieved a breakthrough recently when it encountered hoodlums terrorising the state and gave them a hot chase out of the state.

“The hoodlums usually come from neighbouring states of Nasarawa, Plateau and Cross River. But the command redeployed intelligence officers in all the flash points resulting in their arrest.

“Commander, ‘Operation Zenda’, Justin Gberindyer and his operatives arrested 15 suspected armed robbers with 20 round of ammunition, four AK 47 rifles and magazines in Gboko and Kwande local governments. They also arrested 10 suspected kidnappers in Otukpo, Ado and Ogbadibo.

“These suspected specialised in kidnapping their victims right fromtheir farms. We intercepted them along Adantari/Otobi Road, Makurdiand recovered two AK47 rifles, magazine and pump action among other arms and ammunition from them.

“Police operatives encountered and killed three notorious bandits in Katsina Ala in Ukum Local Government. One of the suspects, Lorgom, engaged the operatives in a gun duel at Katsina Ala Council Area but was later killed. Two other suspects, Terdo and Orkulam, were also neutralised in operations in Ukum LG.”

Abass reiterated his commitment to bring to book perpetrators who burnt down the house of late DSP Emmanuel Agber at Ikpayongo and destruction of other houses where two people lost their lives: “People who speak the same language should imbibe alternative dispute resolution strategies to resolve matters.”
