The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, has dismissed the video of a naked man alleged to have slept with the wife of a top politician, as the Deputy Speaker of the Nassarawa State House of Assembly.

The video which has since gone viral, shows a naked man bleeding from his nose after apparently being beaten to a pulp by his accusers; his hands are tied to his back with a belt.

The suspect who is also being alleged to be an All Progressive Congress (APC), senator-elect, was also said to have been taken to Maitama police station and currently in custody.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, who acknowledged that the police received a report of a man beaten by some persons for allegedly sleeping with another man’s wife, however, said that the suspect in their custody was not the deputy speaker of the NSHA, as was being rumoured in the social media.

Ciroma, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, confirmed that the suspect was in police custody, adding that the police had commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding his offense and why he was stripped naked.

The CP said: “There was a case that was reported (to us) and we are investigating it.

“We don’t know the truth or otherwise of the case; it is only investigations that will reveal all we need to know.

“But the man they beat up and stripped naked is not the deputy speaker. He is not the deputy speaker.”

Also in a telephone interview, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, said: “The command is investigating the issue; so that is just the position.

Asked whether the suspect in the video was truly the deputy speaker of NSHA, Manzah said:  “The command is investigating the matter and I don’t want to go deep into it; so let us leave it like that.”
