Police raise alarm over plans to abduct school children in Bauchi

The Bauchi Police Command says intelligence reports at its disposal indicates that some undesirable elements plan to abduct under-age children for recruitment for terrorist activities.
ASP Abdulrahman Ahmed, spokesman of the command disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Bauchi.
The statement said that the group specifically planned to abduct school children going to or returning from schools.
“The group has perfected the plan to abduct school children to recruit and indoctrinate them for terrorist activities.
“Against, this backdrop, the command urges members of the general public to be security conscious of their physical and social environment.
“Specifically, the public should pay attention to persons and objects particularly at schools, motor parks, shopping mall, markets, filling stations and places of worship,’’ the statement said.
It urged members of the public to report suspicious persons or objects in their neighborhood to the nearest police station for prompt response.
The statement said that the command was committed to providing safe and secure environment for the people
