Five women were at the weekend paraded by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike, for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and selling of little Miss Uloma Ikeakaram from Elelem in Ngor, Imo State, on April 8, 2017.
This was just as the ring leader, Miss Rose, and their police accomplice, identified as Felix, are now at large.
The Imo police boss who disclosed this to newsmen after handing over of the little girl to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ikeakaram, at the police command headquarters, said that one of the suspects, Mrs. Chinonye Okere, 29, of Umuaghara Elelem village in Ngor Okpala council had on April 8, 2017, in collusion with Rose and Felix, abducted the three-year-old girl during a burial in the village.
According to him, Okere had kidnapped the girl during a burial ceremony and handed her to one Madam Euchria Amadi, 54, in Nnewi South council of Anambra State who in turn sold her to Mrs.Pauline Uzoamaka in Lagos for N600,000.
Ezike added that they were part of a criminal syndicate and “we will charge them to court where they will explain their mode of operation.”
Ezike said the police officer who was mentioned by Okere as the initiator of the abuduction, when arrested, would face an orderly room trial and, if found culpable, would be dismissed and prosecuted for kidnapping and child trafficking.
The other suspects included Mrs. Joy Amah, 29, and Miss Nnenne Okere, 28, both of Elelem in Ngor Okpala.
