Mr Joshua Lidani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Gombe South, has called on the Christian faithful in the state to elect leaders who have the fear of God.

Lidani made the appeal in Gombe on Sunday during the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Men Fellowship International, 25th Annual Conference for Gombe District Church Council.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the conference was “Occupy till I come, Luke chapter 19:13’’.

He urged the church in Gombe to apply wisdom during the elections, saying “do not consider physical look or worldly gain, but vote wisely for a patriotic Nigerian with the fear of God’’.

Also speaking, Mr Ayuba Aluke, the Spokesperson of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, urged the congregation to vote for leaders who respect the rule of law, justice and fairness for all and respect for religious and ethnic diversity.

Aluke admonished Nigerians to think wisely and elect someone who would be ready to serve them well in 2023, saying ”Nigerians need to choose someone who will not compromise the interest of the country for his benefit’’.

According to him, electing credible leaders will not be possible without obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

He therefore called on those that had not collected their PVCs to go and collect them.

Rev. Maianguwa Liman, the Guest Speaker, emphasised the need for Christian faithful to fear God in all their dealings, as the Bible commanded them.

”The fear of God will keep you away from sin, all kinds of good things will flow into the life of the person who fears God,” he said. (NAN)
