Kogi Elders Council has said the igala/ Bassa speaking areas of Kogi state comprising of nine local governments have resolved to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday, February 16 election.

In a press statement made available to  newsmen in Lokoja shortly after an emergency meeting and signed by the chairman of elders’ council, Sen. Ahmadu Ali and the Secretary, Alphonsus Alhassan, it said a vote for president Muhammad Buhari was a vote for the re-election of Governor Yahaya Bello.

The statement said the Elders Council, after wide consultations with the people and as a  mouth-piece of the zone,  resolved that the zone has been neglected by the APC led government.

According to the statement the past four years under Governor Bello APC administration, the Igala/ Bassa race has suffered the worst political persecution and neglect and was therefore not ready to support any government that will further impoverish the people.

The statement said,  “Henceforth the senatorial zone will no longer fold it’s hands and be neutral  to suffer shame any more shame at the hands of political merchants of fortunes

“In view of the foregoing therefore, Igala/Bassa zone has resolved that any vote in KOGI East for APC is a vote for governor Yahaya Bello that will bring no good to us,” the statement added.
