A ghastly car accident involving a hit-and-run driver has claimed the lives of four persons and destroyed two electric poles around GRA in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The vehicle, with plate number ‘Rivers BNY 317 BK’, was badly damaged.

Saturday Sun gathered that the driver of the Lexus SUV had first knocked down an man around Port Harcourt Polo Club and attempted to escape through the Madela Car Wash axis route of GRA, where he knocked down two other persons, who died on the spot, including a mad man.

Eyewitness account says that the driver, thereafter, drove his vehicle into two electric poles along the road before running into a fence, where he lost his life in the process.

According to the source at the popular Mandela Car Wash area, security operatives, who were in hot pursuit of the runaway vehicle, after the driver had killed the first person, later arrived on the scene and removed the corpses, leaving the mad man behind.

Police deployed to the scene told Saturday Sun that they had traced the address of the owner of the vehicle, discovering that he was out of town, and identifying the owner’s personal driver as being responsible for the crime at about 6 a.m. Friday.
