From Nwimo Chukwudike, Awka

Labour Party (LP) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh, has said  the party does not need a presidential campaign council to win the 2023 poll.

He said the constitution of the campaign council to execute the election would be mere formality as people have already formed campaign movements in different parts of the country.

Umeh, in an interview with journalists in  Awka, Anambra State at the weekend said ongoing rallies in various parts of the country “show that people have taken over the project and driving it.”

He said given the massive support from Nigerians, the party was careful in its strategies so it is not seen to be imitating others.

“We don’t do things because others are doing it; we search for things that will make Nigeria great again.  When we searched for Obi’s running mate, you saw that we waited to make sure we got someone who matched the pairing; Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed is a very seasoned person. The Labour Party presidential ticket has the best brains of people who can give Nigerians what they are yearning,” he said.

Umeh described the highly successful maiden rally of the party in Jos, Plateau State as a tip of the iceberg, maintaining that setting up a presidential campaign council was just to fulfill all righteousness.
