There is tension in Jos, the capital of Plateau State over the cancellation of about 92,000 presidential election results in Tudun-Wada/Kabong federal ward, in Jos North Local Government Area of the State.

Youths in the affected areas protested when they received the news of the cancellation by INEC which created tension in some parts of the state capital.

There was also tension at the INEC headquarters, Jos, when the result was presented by the collation officer for Jos North, Dr. Augustine Sambo Azi.

He said the candidate of APC, Muhammadu Buhari got 93, 800 to defeat the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar who polled 53,277 votes.

The PDP party agent Hon. Sam Umar protested the cancellation of the result and said there was no reason for INEC’s action.

Hon. Umaru told the state Returning Officer, Prof. Richard Anande, Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Markudi that the votes canceled were PDP votes.

He said the state INEC officer should do something urgent to address the issues before it got out of hand.

Prof. Augustine Anande said there was nothing he could do that the parties agents involved should have addressed the matter before the results were presented at the INEC headquarters Jos.

It could be recalled that elections result were canceled in Tudun-Wada/Kabong Federal Ward during the 2015 general elections.

Also, INEC has canceled 7,000 votes in 6 polling units at Kumbon Ward in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Collation officer of Wase Local Government, Dr. Angela Olofu, who presented the result said elections were canceled in five polling units due to over voting and one polling unit due to manual accreditation.

Dr. Olofu said APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari got 35, 931 to beat PDP candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, who scored 22,807 votes.
