Scores of youths under the aegis of Occupy National Assembly, on Tuesday, besieged the legislative complex demanding the immediate resignation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The youths made up of various Civil Society Organisations and students, were also demanding that the federal lawmakers immediately revisit the grey areas identified in the 2016 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Although security men barred the protesters from entering the premises of the national assembly, they took over the main entrance of the complex.
The main entrance to the national assembly complex was locked up as protesters continued their rally.
The coordinator of the protest, Retson Tedheke of Citizens United for Peace and Stability, said that one of the demands of the group “is that the senate return the sports utility vehicles it bought for N35.1m each.”
“We are demanding that the national assembly stop toying with the laws of the country in its own interest, We are asking that they stop playing politics with the budget, and scrap constituency projects because they are fraud. We demand that the national assembly make open its N150bn budget for all Nigerians to see.”
The protesters have vowed not to back down until their demands are met.
