The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday announced the promotion of 6,455 senior Police Officers.

A statement by the head public relations of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, gave the breakdown of the newly promoted officers to include one Assistant Inspector General of Police, two commissioners of police, 47 Chief Superintendents of Police, 498 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 5,907 Assistant Superintendents of Police.

The newly promoted AIG is Hilda Ibifuro –Harrison, while two officers, Ajani Olasupo Babatunde and Olukola Taira Shina, were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police. Ani, in the statement, said ASP11, Mohimi D. Edgal and Aji Ali Janga, deputy Commissioners of Police, were appointed acting Commissioners of Police. The PSC spokesperson, while noting that promotions and other decisions of the commission would be conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, for implementation, however, said, “the commission had returned recommendations pertaining to special promotions to the IGP.
