Rangers International of Enugu General Manager, Christian Chukwu , says the league champions does not need Chisom Egbuchulam to excel this season especially in the continent where the club is flying Nigeria’s flag in the money spinning CAF Champions League.

Egbuchulam,  who was the top scorer last season with 16 goals is  not registered for the Flying Antelopes both in the domestic and continental campaigns .

Chukwu said the idea of forcing a late registration for Chisom has been discarded as the player is eyeing a move to an unnamed Swedish club.

“Chisom  is not registered with us for both the continental and the NPFL. He wants to move to Sweden. I don’t know which club but we wish him the best”, Chukwu, a former captain and coach of Rangers, said.

The former Eagles captain  said they don’t want to be distracted with issues bothering on striker Egbuchulam as other players are lurking in the wings to fill the void and make a statement.

“As a footballer, you have a short playing period and so he has to make the best of the time. So we don’t want to be distracted,” he continued.

“Seven Cameroonian players shunned their invitations for the last AFCON in Gabon. They turned to other players and guess what happened, they won the Cup.

“So, there will be other players who will step up following Chisom’s absence too. That is football for you”.

Chisom later confirmed he could move to Sweden, but did not disclose when or the particular club.

“There is something like that, but I don’t know when”, he snapped.

But on return from the failed move to Tunisia, ‘The Flying Antelopes’ contemplated forcing a late registration with CAF for the sensational striker which would have cost the Nigerian club a fine of $500.
