The Comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service, Kano /Jigawa Command, Mr. Matthias Abutu, has charged newly-promoted officers in his command to rededicate their energies and commitments to the overall goals of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Mr. Abutu made gave this advice, on Tuesday, when he led the management of the Service in the Command to decorate the promoted officers in his Command.

According to him, every new rank in the service comes with a higher responsibility and duty, hence the need for the promoted to understand their new roles and be in a better position to discharge them efficiently and effectively..

He reminded the officers that they had earned their promotion through their dedication to their jobs adding that they should continue with their hard work as the system was poised to recognize and reward its hard working personnel .

He said that the Command would immediately organise a 3-day retreat for the promoted officers, adding that the retreat would focus on capacity development and the official requirements of their new ranks.

In his response,  one of the promoted officers, Deputy Comptroller,  Ahmed Tijjani Abe, assured the  Service that all the promoted officers would live up to the expectations of their new ranks adding that they were fired by the promotion to work harder and drive the Service to greater height.

Among those promoted in the Command were Assistant Comptroller Ahmed Tijjani Abe ,who was promoted to a Deputy Comptroller,  five Chief Superintendents of Customs (CSC) who were moved up to the ranks of  Assistant Comptrollers. Also promoted was the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Alhaji Dambaba Isah, who was moved up to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 to Assistant Superintendent of Customs 11.

Daily Sun reports that there were also scores of officers in the Inspectorate cadre whose ranks were aligned to their appropriate ranks in the Superintendent cadre in line with the Federal Government circular abrogating the dichotomy between holders of HND and those of Bachelor’s Degrees.
