Christian and Muslim faithful in Nigeria have been urged to join hands to save the society and the country from the incubus of terror, insurgency and every sense of insecurity that pervades the land and nation.

President of Next Generation Youth Initiative International (NeGYII), Ambassador Onoja, made the call at the weekend, at a Novelty Football Match between Muslim clerics and Pastors, held at Mc Carthy Stadium, Makurdi.

While noting that the country needed unity across board in every sphere, Onoja stressed the need to build collective trust as well as a great sense of tolerance for one another.

“We need peace in our country to achieve our collective interest. We need to love one another irrespective of Faith, Creed, ethnic nationality or religious belief. If there is any cardinal purpose religion is to serve it is Love and Peace,” he stated.

The NeGYII President who posited that the novelty match between religious leaders in Makurdi was to celebrate the long history of existing peaceful co-existence between the two major Faiths (Christianity/Islam) also sought to promote and deepen the cause through engaging in interreligious exchanges.

He commended CLEEN Foundation for its support and leaders of both religions especially the Muslim community who had agreed to participate in the match in spite of the ongoing Ramadan fast maintaining that the match was to further foster relationship between adherents of the two faiths.
