Four schools  in Amuwo-Odofin  Local Government Area of Lagos State became proud recipients of free school uniforms courtesy of the empowerment programme of Hon. Oghene Emma Egoh,  a PDP member representing Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

The four  lucky schools, Festac College, Satellite Junior Secondary School, Satellite Town, Ivory Grammar School, Ibeshe and ZI Primary School, Oriade,  received  a set of  1000 brand new school uniforms donated by Hon. Oghene in collaboration with Warri Boys  Association, Lagos branch, a socio-cultural group supporting the political activities of the lawmaker.

Speaking at the presentation  of the school uniforms to the representatives of the Parent-Teacher Associations of the recipient schools at an elaborate ceremony which took place at Masalasi area of Old Ojo Road, Amuwo,  the lawmaker stated that his desire to donate the school uniforms in association with the Warri Boys Association was essentially to alleviate the plights of some school children who often go to school with torn school uniforms.

According to him, “ In line with my promise to always touch base with my people and do all in my power to ameliorate their plight, this initiative was born out of my desire to support the education of children in my constituency, Amuwo Odofin Federal constituency.”  He added that, “ on several occasions I have seen indigent school children going to school with torn school uniforms and I  felt touched about it and decided to come up with the programme.

While commending the Warri Boys Association for supporting him in the procurement of the school uniforms, the lawmaker stated that the uniforms would ease-off pressure on parents in having to buy new uniforms for their children.

Oghene also commended the community leaders and residents of the LGA for their  overwhelming support and promised to continue with his empowerment programmes, targeted at various segments of the people, while offering them good representations at the Federal House of Representatives.

He assured that the programme would be sustainable and promised  that future programmes would be expanded to cover more schools.

He noted that the recent donations would compliment his free school bus scheme which was created by him to provide free transportation for school children, just as he called on wealthy individuals, corporate organizations and governments  at all levels  to embark on projects aimed at boosting the education sector.

In his speech at the event, chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Amuwo Odofin LGA, Prince Friday Atan, commended the lawmaker for identifying with the cause of school children, as well as for his numerous  empowerment schemes aimed at benefitting the residents of the area.  He noted that since the lawmaker was elected into office, he had continued to identify with the party and the grassroots, just as he called on Almighty God to grant him good health and the resources to achieve more.

Also,  President of Warri Boys Association, Lagos branch,  Chief Pius Emakirakpo, stated that their support for Hon Oghene in the provision of 1000 sets of brand new school uniforms was due to the numerous people-oriented programmes initiated by the lawmaker.

The event which was jointly organized by Hon. Oghene Emma Egoh Empowerment foundation and Warri Boys Association, Lagos branch, also witnessed the distribution of fifty free eyeglasses to widows from my constituency and the official launch of “Team Oghene @work” project.

The occasion attracted members of association of landlords, parents-teachers  association , traders and artisans, teachers and school children, as well as leaders and members of PDP in the LGA.
