The House of Representatives has urged the National Emergence Management Agency (NEMA) to provide support for victims of fuel tanker explosion in Ankpa, Kogi.

The resolution was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Rep. Ibrahim Halims (APC-Kogi) at plenary on Thursday.

Moving the motion, Halims said that on Sept. 28, at about 9 a.m., a tanker laden with Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control in Ankpa town of Kogi.

The lawmaker said that the situation resulted in a fatal accident in which no fewer than 40 persons have so far been confirmed dead.
He said that many vehicles and other property of his constituent were damaged by the fire.
