The House of Representatives has said that it would revoke all roads contracts awarded by the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA),  if such contractors refused to mobilise their men back to sites.

A member of the House, Hon. Edward Pwajok, who led the House committee on FERMA to Nasarawa State, disclosed this, on Thursday,  at Wowyem village, along Lafia – Akwanga road, shortly after the committee inspected some projects being executed by the agency in the state.

Pwajok, however, promised to partner with FERMA for proper maintenance of roads networks across Nigeria.

He explained that the House would work in conjunction with FERMA to see that funds needed for such maintenance projects were adequately made available to enable the prompt maintenance of deplorable roads in the country in order to minimize road mishaps.

Pwajok, therefore, tasked FERMA to closely supervise contractors it engages to ensure delivery of projects contracted out in line with contractual specifications.

HE, however, expressed satisfaction with activities of the Nasarawa State office of FERMA on projects sites he had so far visited.

In a remark, federal road maintenance engineer in-charge of FERMA in the state, Alao Ishola Dauda, lamented the high cost of construction materials in the country, as well as the non-availability of requisite materials within the localities that are needed which, according to him, were hampering the proper maintenance of deplorable roads across the country.

Projects visited by the lawmakers in Nasarawa include the retrained Bukan Kwato stream, Lafia – Akwanga road rehabilitation work, among others.
