The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has told the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Azees Oluboyo, to return to the coffers of the state government all the salaries and other allowances paid him during his tenure in office.
Reacting to a recent judgment of the Court of Appeal, Akure, which nullified the impeachment of the former deputy governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi, the APC declared that Oluboyo, who served for two years as deputy governor, should return all the monies he realised while in office.
The party, in a statement issued, on Wednesday, by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Abayomi Adesanya, said the ruling of the Court of Appeal showed the recklessness of the Olusegun Mimiko’s government.
According to the statement, “Oluboyo should immediately refund all monies, salaries, entitlements and vehicles received as the Deputy Governor of the state when he illegally held sway over the office in spite of repeated warnings about its legal implications.”
Adesanya who commended the judiciary, stressed that “all rights and privileges of the office of the Deputy Governor of Ondo State should be accorded Ali Olanusi from the time of the illegal impeachment till the end of the tenure.”
Also, he lampooned the state’s judiciary under the leadership of the former Chief Judge, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi alleging that “his regime was characterized by disregard to the rule of law, nepotism, impunity and corruption, which brought the temple of justice into disrepute.”
“No wonder the appellate court chided the judge, describing him as unfit to occupy that position. Ondo State judiciary is in need of total overhauling and reform in the interest of all and sundry, especially, the common man,” he added.
He said “We advise the former and illegal occupant of the office of the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lasisi Oluboyo, to with immediate alacrity refund all monies accrued to him, either as salaries, allowances or emoluments, while illegally occupying the exotic office of the Deputy Governor of the State. “
Oluboyo was also urged to return all government vehicles and properties at his disposal to the Governor’s office, so as to prevent government from resorting to the use of force in recovering those items from him (Oluboyo).
