Rhema University, Aba, made history recently when she held her first education exhibition which showcased wonders of the great citadel of learning. The programme, which attracted many academics, school heads and dignitaries from all walks of life, was intended to sensitize the public on special educational features and unique packages available at Rhema University.
Apart from creating a forum for people to meet one-on-one with representatives of various departments and colleges of the university, it also enlightened prospective candidates on the university admission policy. Moreover, it provided detailed information on special programmes such as Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), continuing education as well as the regular degree programmes.
By 10:30 am, the sprawling Rhema University auditorium was packed full with guests and invitees. After the opening prayer said by Pastor Sampson Ihemefor on behalf of Dr Jude Ehiemere, the Medical Director Living Word Mission Hospital and Vice President of Living Word Ministries, the Rhema Symphony led the audience in singing the national and university anthems.
In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of Rhema University, Prof. O.C. Onwudike, enlightened all about Rhema University establishment founded in 2009, accredited by NUC in 2010 and awarded full operational licences in 2015. Rhema has, so far, graduated three sets of students and is set to roll out the fourth. All the sets have gone for their youth service.
Rhema University known for its cult-free, exquisite environment, is said to be void of exam malpractices, sexual harassment or bullying of any sort. Above all, students are grounded in their various disciplines and at the same time rooted in the fear of God! The V.C emphasized the training of the child in godly principles and cited the examples of John Quincy Adams, the third American President whose mother drummed into him the virtues of humility, probity and integrity.
Heads of various departments took turns to speak on the peculiar issues pertinent to their fields. The Rhema Symphony once more took over the stage and rendered a powerful song. The students’ theatre featured a skit on the importance of being a Rhema student and the woes that trail unqualified half-baked graduates from unserious institutions.
Amongst other features, the highlight of the event was when the Chancellor and President of Living Word Ministries, Bro. Emma Okorie, spoke about the vision of Rhema University. He made it clear that the hope of our nation lies in rebuilding a generation that will take us to higher ground, hence the motto of the University: “equipping humanity for excellence.” The vision is a movement of raising an eternal memorial – building for eternity and educating the head and heart, he added.
Following the speeches and presentations, the schools were taken on a facility tour of Rhema University: the hostels – which were virtually hotel suites; the laboratories, the library, stocked with latest books, journals and periodicals and the e-facility, to mention but a few. The event was a huge success, with stands created for various departments like entrepreneurial studies, the IJMB and continuing education.
The IJMB offers a one-year course which qualifies the candidate to go straight to 200 level. Special discount of 10% was offered to those who would buy the forms and register before the end of May 2017.
Other dignitaries in attendance were: Sister Chi Emma Okorie, the Rector of Living Word Training Centre and Administrator of Living Word Ministries, Bishop Umediego of Kingdom Citizens Assembly, Prof. Comfort Ighorodge and principals of schools, with their staff and students.
