Over hundred thousand Rivers people from the 23 local government areas of the state, yesterday, formally declared their endorsement of  former vice president and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to lead Nigeria out of the woods.

The Rivers people, who turned out in their numbers, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, in Port Harcourt, sang pro-Atiku and pro-Wike songs to emphasise their preference.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, assured Rivers people will vote for Atiku because they believe in his capacity to develop the country.

Governor Wike said PDP represents the light the country is craving for, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) is neck-deep in darkness.

“APC is darkness and PDP light. APC is dictatorship and PDP means freedom. Rivers people have chosen to vote light and freedom, hence, all our votes are for the PDP. Rivers State is Atikulated.”

Former Rivers State governor, Celestine Omehia, described the choice of Atiku as PDP’s presidential candidate as divine. He said God has chosen Atiku to solve the problem of Nigeria.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, said Rivers people will vote 100 percent for Atiku.

He described the rally as a rehearsal for the victory of party after the election of Atiku as president of the country.
