The University of Lagos (UNILAG), in partnership with the University of Bayreuth, Germany and Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), has announced plans to hold the first international conference on additive manufacturing in Nigeria.

Director General and Chief Executive Officer, RMRDC, Prof Hussaini Ibrahim, who was represented by the Director in Lagos office, Mr Tokunbo Habeeb, at a press briefing in Lagos to herald the conference scheduled to hold between September 26 and 29 at the University of Lagos, Akoka, explained that the summit was apt considering the harsh business terrain for manufacturing concerns to thrive.

The Director General noted that the conference was expected to spotlight innovative and effective solutions on how additive manufacturing can bring down the cost of manufacturing operations by at least 30 per cent.

“Manufacturers have been bedevilled with myriads of challenges hindering manufacturing activities, hence the conference would have not come at a better time where manufacturers are seeking innovative ways to boost their profit margins while also reducing their cost of operations.”
