The Christ Ascension Church has vowed to solidly support Peter Mbah, Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State ahead in next year’s general elections.

The Church made the pledge during a prayer session organised for the PDP flagbearer at the Ascension Centre, Independence Layout, Enugu.

The session was part of a one-day programme tagged: “Ascension, Government, Elections 2023 and Beyond.”

General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Dr. Ralph Nwoye, who presented a copy of the Holy Bible to Mbah, assured him that the church was behind him and will continue to pray for him to succeed.

“The Bible says that prayer without works is dead. We have prayed but the work is that we will be at the field to vote for you. We will galvanise every member of this church to support this movement.

“As you are here today, we are solidly behind you. We’ll continue to pray for you. Sir, the Ascension Church is with you,” Nwoye assured.

A former deputy governor, Nwoye was one of the governorship contenders but stepped down for Mbah during the primaries.

He described the PDP gubernatorial candidate as indeed “a man that can lift Enugu State.”

Responding, the governorship hopeful said that the Bible which he received was a sign of victory.

He promised to build on the legacies of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration if he becomes governor in 2023.

He further commended the leadership of the Church promising never to forget the church when their prayer is answered.
