The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the display of voters’ register in Oyo State, following the just-suspended Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

The Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state, Biodun Onikate-Amosu, made this known to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, in a press statement issued on Monday.

According to him, the exercise would give opportunities to those that have been registered ahead of the 2023 general elections to make claims and objections before the final voters’ register would be produced.

Onikate-Amosu stated that the one-week exercise, which began on Monday, August 15, will end next week Monday.

He added that essence of the exercise is to grant the registered voters access to their information and to scrutinise the preliminary voters’ register towards making claims or raising objections against inclusion of registrants.

Onikate-Amosu, however, implored voters, whose information was wrongly taken during the just-suspended CVR to visit the 33 local government offices of INEC in the state, where they registered for necessary corrections.

It would be recalled that preliminary voters’ registers that were displayed prior to some past general elections, contained names of some dead persons and multiple appearances of the same name on the voters’ registers in different states in Nigeria.
