Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, on Saturday, joined other All Progressives Congress’ party stalwarts and illustrious sons and daughters of Wamba to receive immediate-past House of Representatives’ aspirant, Hon. Barr. David Ayuba Dumwe, and his supporters from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
At a reception ceremony held at the Wamba Football Field, Dumwe said he decamped to the APC due to multiple irregularities in the conduct of the Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal House of Representatives’ PDP Primaries where he contested against incumbent Member, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Usman Ombamas.
The new APC member thanked the leadership of the party in the State, including the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, for giving him the right pieces of advice to take the decision, explaining that he had saved his political career by towing the path of light.
Dumwe added that he would give his full support to the APC to defeat the PDP in the 2023 general elections in order to garner more dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Other dignitaries at the occasion included the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Yakubu Mohammed Lawal; Hon. Asiru Bala Suleiman(Chairman, Wamba Local Government Area); Hon. Markson Anthony Zarmo(APC Zonal Chairman, Nasarawa-North); Ibrahim Akunu Agyo(APC Chairman, Wamba Local Government Area); Hon. Amb. Jeremiah John Umaru(APC House of Representatives’ flag bearer); Wakeel Mukhtar(APC stalwart).
Shortly after the reception, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, congratulated the decampee and said he had taken the right step.
“This is, to me, the biggest fish the APC has caught in most recent times in Nasarawa State, which is why you are seeing the large crowd and dignitaries here today.
“Wamba Local Government has always been an APC ground, and this dates back to the era of the CPC in 2011 before it later metamorphosed into the present nomenclature.
“We in Wamba keep enjoying the dividends of the APC administration in the State and Federal level.
“And with the defection of Barr. Dumwe today, rest assured that other opposition parties are completely rendered ineffective.
“So, I am calling on all well-meaning card-carrying sons and daughters of Wamba and beyond to turn out en masse to cast their votes and guard them jealously for all the candidates of the APC in the coming elections.
“A vote for the APC is a vote for more dividends of democracy, transparency and accountability.”
Also speaking, APC House of Representatives’ flagbearer, Jeremiah John Umaru, said he was the happiest person to witness the defection of Barr. David Ayuba Dumwe into the fold of the APC, describing it as timely as it would enable him and the party join forces to walk over other contestants in the 2023 General Elections.
The decampee joined the APC from the PDP with thousands of his supporters.
In a separate development, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, on Saturday, attended the wedding reception for Ahmed Abubakar(Ya Mallam) with Maryam Ibrahim Abdullahi(Hajiya) held in Wamba town.
The Commissioner who was accompanied to the event by his wife, Mary Yargwa, prayed God to grant the new couple the grace to grow together in love for each other.
He admonished them to make God the centre of their home as that is the only way they could meet each other’s needs.
