there is absolutely no doubt that the ankara fabric has become an owambe (party) staple. It is the first fabric that comes to mind when there is any party going on Nigeria.
Aside the fact that the fabric is cheap, it has also been proven over the years that the fabric is versatile and so it well accepted in Western world too.
These days we see models on international runways strutting their stuff in beautiful ankara pieces. Even down here in Nigeria, it is like many Nigerians have freshly fallen in love with the fabric. That is why these days ankara is no longer restricted to owambe ceremonies. Ankara right now can be worn to the office too.
Gone are the days when ankara was only restricted to Fridays and Saturdays. These lovely prints can now be worn easily in a corporate setting.
However, if you work in a very conservative environment, you might not be allowed to wear ankara during week days but if you are in the creative industry, you are allowed to explore the world of ankara.
So, girls let us go on ankara adventure.
Monday: Mondays are usually a serious day and being the start of the new week, you need to create a diva doing business themed look. You can opt for prints that are not too loud or fussy and then pair with a plain blouse. For Monday, it is more appropriate to do neutral colours and neutral make up.
Tuesday: Tuesday is also a serious day but you can spice your look a little with more colour. You are allowed to wear something chic and classy. You can try ankara pants paired with a solid shirt.
Wednesday: Splash on colours! It is midweek already and everyone is a little relaxed and laid back. So adding a pop of colour will bring in all the excitement in your total look.
Thursday: It’s almost weekend. Why don’t go to work by wearing the weekend vibes right on your sleeves. Pairing a dramatic ankara blouse with pants or jeans can be lots of fun you know. You just be a little creative in blending in your pants and colours properly in.
Friday: Wow! The week will finally shut down today, so why not reflect that free spirited employee in your office. You can easily transform yourself to a slay queen within a short notice, if you have the perfect combination.
