Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr has disclosed to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), he would give Nigerians the opportunity of assessing his players before the team departs for abroad for camping ahead the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

A member of the Technical Committee of the NFF told Daily SunSports that Rohr, after submitting his AFCON programme, explained that he would want to give Nigerians opportunity to watch the invited players train and play some matches at home before the team jets out outside the country for camping enroute to Egypt.

The member, who pleaded not to be named, said Rohr argued that he did similar thing before the Russia 2018 World Cup, when he opened his team to criticism, to allow Nigerians have the overview of the likely players that would make the final cut for the AFCON in Egypt.

“The coach told us while submitting his AFCON programme that he would like Nigerians to see the players in camp first on Nigerian soil, to garner their input in a friendly match atmosphere before continuing the camping abroad,” the NFF technical committee member said.
