The Rotary Club of Onigbongbo has laid the foundation for the Rotary Primary Health Post at Billy Way, Ojomo Layout, Irawo, Lagos.

President of the club, Razaq Babatunde Salau, said the project started four years ago when the New Odo-Ogun community donated the piece of land for the primary health centre in response to the club’s request.

Addressing the community and guests, the president enjoined them to support the project. He said when completed it would be handed over to the state government for use by the community.

He further disclosed that the club would endeavour to complete the project on schedule and the commissioning done before he leaves office in July 2023.

“I’m glad to champion this project and I can’t wait to see the club commission it before I leave office next July. Our aim and duty is to perform community services capable of lifting our environment to an enviable height and we won’t relent till we make the society a better place to reside. I’ll also glad to let everyone know that the club won’t hesitate to hand over the building to the state government for better administration and I hope it serves its purpose in the lives of citizens battling health challenges,” he said. 

Also speaking at the ceremony, wife of Lagos State Governor, Ibijoke Sanwolu-Olu, represented by Adeola Arotinwa, stressed the need for the community to support Rotary Club of Onigbongbo on the project as it is beneficial to the community.

She applauded the gesture of Rotary, saying: “Your uncommon passion for humanity service is compassion at its best, worthy of emulation by everyone.”
