As part of its contribution to the preservation of the environment, Rotary Club of Amuwo, District 9110, has embarked on tree planting campaign in the area.

It adopted Amuwo – Odofin Senior High School, Mile 2 Estate, where it planted 500 trees and also established a botanical garden for the school.

The theme of this year’s tree planting exercise is “Adopt a school in your community for sustainable tree planting culture.”

Chris Ezeokwelume, service project chair person of the Amuwo club, said the botanical garden for the school would be used for their agricultural practicals and research.

Goni Zakari, the club’s Imaginative President said for the sustainability of the project, it would  be handed over to the school management to nurture the trees and make sure that they don’t die. He further explained that its not just about planting trees, but nurturing the trees to ensure that they thrive and serve their purpose of boosting the environment.

“Planting a tree is a commitment to the future,” he said.
