The Nigeria Institute of Building (NIOB) has endorsed Royal Tiles, manufactured by the West African Ceramics L‎imited (WACL), Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

This took place at the induction ceremony of 22 new fellows of the institute, in Abuja.

Chairman of the endorsement committee, Mr. Akinshola Olufemi, said the recognition was part of strategy to combat the production and influx of substandard products into the country’s building materials market,” adding that the measure will guide the unsuspecting public to make reliable choices of building materials.”

He explained that due diligence was done including visits to the company and subjecting the various products to painstaking integrity test, pointing out that the NIS certification was a precondition for NIOB recognition.

Also speaking, NIOB President, Mr. Tijjani Shuaibu noted that the body would not just give nod to any product but was motivated by the avalanche of testimonials from builders ‎on various specifications of the brand.

While assuring that the Institute would carry out periodic check to ensure that standards were not compromised, he added that the recognition was intended to motivate the indigenous company do more for the development of the built sector in the country.

Highly elated chairman of ‎ WACL, Alhaji Lawal Idrisu told Daily Sun that the company will continue to deploy ultra-modern machinery matched with 98 per cent use of local raw materials coupled with continued research using some of the best hands in the industry.
