Youths and students from the southern part of Kaduna State, under the umbrella of Southern Kaduna Youths and Students Forum (SKYSFOM), have passed a vote of no confidence on the state government for what they described as ‘anti-peoples’ policies’ especially in the education sector.
The youths raised their voice on the prolonged closure of some schools in southern Kaduna which, according to them, had truncated the educational career of the affected people, as well as the means of livelihood of the workers.
The affected schools, according to the Forum, are Kaduna state college of education, Gidan Waya, school of nursing in Kafanchan and the Kaduna state university also in Kafanchan have been closed.
The National president of SKYSFOM, Comrade Jesse Galadima told newsmen at a press conference, in Abuja, on Wednesday, that no fewer than 3,753 members who were dissatisfied with the development have penned their signature on the vote of no confidence register.
He described the action of the government as mischievous and a deliberate attempt to cripple education and economic life of the people and present southern Kaduna as violence prone, against the hospitable heritage and culture of the people.
Galadima compared the situation with that of Maiduguri where the University of Maiduguri has remained opened, running all academic activities despite the violence and intimidation by Boko Haram insurgents.
