Leader of Abia State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Nkire,  has commended former Governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, for his efforts in mobilising people to participate in the ongoing continuous registration exercise in the South East Zone.

Chief Nkire, who spoke at the end a well-attended meeting of leaders and stakeholders of the party in Umuahia, said though Dr. Kalu joined the APC only recently, his positive impact was already being felt at the state, zonal and national levels.

He also commended the APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun who authorised the continuous registration exercise, promising that the South East zone would vote massively for APC in 2019, going by the enthusiasm the exercise has generated.

Chief Nkire, who is also a member of the APC National Caucus, further appealed to leaders and stakeholders of the party in the South East to put aside their personal ambitions and work for the growth of the party first.

He advised members who wish to run for elections in future to respect constituted authority and desist from encouraging parallel registration as according to him, “this will attract grave sanctions”.

Present at the meeting included the State Chairman, Chief Donatus Nwamkpa, Senators Bob Nwannunu, Chris Adighije, Nkechi Nwaogu, former members of the Houses of Representatives and state assembly, party stalwarts and former senior government officials.
