The 37 years old Dr Sanusi Ohiare, son of one time Senator Mohammed Ohiare and the immediate past Executive Director Rural Electrification Agency has joined the Nov 11 Kogi state governorship race.
Sanusi , arguably the youngest of the aspirants so far has his first , second and third degrees abroad and was appointed at the age of 32 into the federal government agency as the Executive Director where he was said to have mobilized over $600 million for the agency to carry out extensive rural electrification projects for rural communities across the country
The aspirant who said he is a cerebral Economist and Rural development Expert is from Adavi local government area, the same central senatorial district of the outgoing governor Yahaya Bello .
Addressing a rally in Okene on Wednesday where he presented his nomination and intent form to people of his district, Sanusi said of all the aspirants, he is the most qualified and acceptable as he represents the youths in the state which he said it's over 70 percent of the population
He said, his family in Ebira land has an history of selfless service to the people saying his great father was one of the prominent people that served the people about 100 years ago his grandfather was a councilor while his own biological father was a one time Senator who also contested for the governorship seat in 2007.
He said he has diligently learnt the art of governance and can relate perfectly with every segment of the state adding that his tenure at the Rural Electrification Agency which he just resigned few days ago was eventful without any skirmish.
His words:
"My decision to contest was borne out of a sense of commitment to public service and my ability to address complex challenges owing to my diverse experience.
"The race for the governor of Kogi State is unusually a close contest that reflects the hopes and aspirations of many voters in the state. Like millions of other Nigerians, Kogi indigenes are living with sharply higher costs of food, and a high rate of unemployment.
"I am not just another average politician worried about jobs, safety, economy and all that , I am an extensively experienced public servant who seeks to shake tables and get things done. I also seek to give us all a seat at the table in governance and our great party. I am a hands-on politician.
I therefore, call on you to join me" he added
