Lagos State governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, defeated the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje, with over 533, 000 votes in Saturday’s governorship election.

  Sanwo-Olu was governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing the results at the Lagos headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, the Chief Collation Officer, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede said Sanwo-Olu was elected with 739,445 votes.

He beat Agbaje, who polled 206,141 votes.

Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Babatunde Gbadamosi, came third with 4,780 votes.

Total votes cast was 998,715, valid votes were 977,476 while rejected votes were 21,239.

In Agege, APC got 38,515 votes while PDP had 8,371 votes. For Ibeji Lekki, APC, got 23,298 to PDP’s, 3,320. In Amuwo-Odofin: APC, 23,267; PDP, 13,700; Ikeja, APC, 28,592 and PDP, 8,109. In Apapa, APC had 20,469 and PDP scored 5,959; For Somolu, APC, got 40,408, PDP, 9,991. In Eti Osa, APC got 30,504, to PDP’s 10,068. In Oshodi-Isolo, APC polled 39,945, PDP, 12,585; Mushin, APC,51,899, PDP 8,751 and Surulere, APC,39,986 while  PDP had 13,733 votes.

In Lagos Mainland, APC polled 27,333, while PDP had 7, 265 votes; Lagos Island, APC, 31,991, PDP, 4,346; Epe: APC, 35,609, PDP, 6, 464; Ikeja, APC,  28,592, PDP, 8,109; and Ikorodu, APC, 45,879, PDP, 14,769.

In Badagary, APC polled 28,921 votes while PDP had 10,089; Ifako Ijaiye, APC, got 35,144, PDP, polled 7,233; For Ajeromi Ifelodun, APC won with 43,975 while PDP got 14,690. In Alimosho, APC got 78,379, vote, PDP, 22,135 and in Ojo, APC had 30,904 votes  and PDP, got 9,602 votes. The APC cleared all the 40 seats in the House of Assembly.
