Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to lead a discussion on exploring the investment opportunities for Lagos at the Y2021 Lagos Investment Roundtable with the theme: “Attracting Investment for Economic Recovery”.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond, explained that Mr. Governor is desirous of developing long-term policy towards enhancing aggressive investment promotion in the State.

Mrs. Hammond disclosed that the Investment Roundtable presents a unique platform for new opportunities that will fast-track the development of projects and provide a contribution towards enhancing the city’s attractiveness for both local and foreign investors.

She noted that the summit was designed to bring together investment professionals to proffer solutions that are germane to successful economic recovery that is relevant to stimulating investment across focal sectors of the State’s economy.

The Special Adviser confirmed that the occasion will attract international investors, investment policymakers, business executives, captains of industries, key market players, industry experts, development advocates, young entrepreneurs as well as top government functionaries.

Her words: “As the world emerges from this economic crisis, investors have an opportunity to realign themselves and seek opportunities in sectors that will play a pivotal role in future economic growth. Lagos is increasingly seeing divergent growth prospects in many focal sectors across the State”.

“Lagos economic statistics speak of tremendous potential; we must sustain the policy to improve the business climate to boost sustainable investment. Stronger international cooperation is critical for more balanced and inclusive global growth during the recovery journey”, she added.

The forum, according to her, was designed to elicit critical discourse that will engender a better understanding of the Lagos operating environment and how governments and investors can collaborate for more trade and investment opportunities.

“While the Roundtable will offer a distinctive platform for dialogue on development and investment opportunities in the transport, health, environment, technology, energy and industrial infrastructure, It will also provide insight for both local and multinational companies on the strategy to invest in novel sectors in the State”, she averred.

Speaking on the imperative of the assemblage, Mrs. Hammond pointed out that the peculiarity of Lagos in the economic spectrum in Africa requires that Lagos evolves with the international community’s shared agenda on global trade and investment to meet modern demands.

The Special Adviser submitted that as an investment hub of Africa, the investment community in the State needs to keep pace with the new vision of the business to serve a broader set of stakeholders.

She further revealed that the Governor will launch the Investment Deal Book, a brochure that comprehensively outlines key projects in some of the focal sectors, provides an independent assessment of their viability, risk assessment, potential partnership structure and guidelines for investing.

While enjoining Lagosians to be part of the engagement virtually via http://invest.Lagosglobal.org, Hammond noted that the session will address some of the challenges facing existing investors and the barriers to entry for new investors.
