“…the deceased Adikwu was not among the five gang leaders that indicted and implicated Saraki and… his death cannot in anyway vindicate Saraki…”

Henry Umahi

The Nigeria Police Force yesterday said despite the death of the principal suspect in the deadly April 5 bank robbery attack in Offa, Kwara State, Michael Adikwu, it has enough evidence from the five suspects now in court to prosecute the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said Adikwu “was not murdered but slumped and died in detention while investigation into the Offa bank robbery was ongoing. It is also important for the public to know that the deceased Adikwu was not among the five gang leaders that indicted and implicated Saraki and, therefore, his death cannot in anyway vindicate Saraki. There is a post-mortem examination result in respect of the death of Adikwu.”

He said the five suspects admitted in their confessional statements to the police investigators that they were political thugs of Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State.

According to him, it was also discovered during investigations that three gang leaders who participated actively in the Offa bank robbery followed Saraki to Oloffa’s palace when he paid a condolence visit to Offa after the robbery.
