From Paul Osuyi, Asaba

The Scrabble event at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) has ended at the new multi-purpose sports hall of Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba in Delta State.

14 participating states in the Scrabble event are returning home with at least a medal.

The Scrabble event at the festival witnessed Africa’s finest and hottest wordsmith.

Team Delta, led by Super Scrabble Eagles captain, Oshevire Avwengha, topped the table with nine medals including four gold.

Some of the gold medals were won by current world number three, Wellington Jigbere, just as the intermediate gold in the team also went to Team Delta.

Team Lagos came second with three gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Lagos’ gold medals came from the prestigious categories in the game of words, masters and female.

Nigeria’s current champion of champions Olatunde Oduwole placed the first titles and word of gold in the master singles event.
