The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) Pyrates Confraternity under its medical mission yesterday donated various medical items in an effort to support the healthcare system in Lagos.

Making the donations at a presentation ceremonies held at the Isheri Primary Health Centre, Magodo, Lagos and the Police Area F medical centre in Ikeja, the NAS Capoon, Mr. Abiola Owoaje, noted that the intervention was part of NAS efforts to assist the government to deepen healthcare penetration in Lagos.

Insisting that government could not do it alone, he said that as a humanitarian and advocacy organisation, one of its cardinal objectives is to help the needy in the society by providing a support base for them. He disclosed that through its NAS Medical Mission, thousands of people have benefited from the initiative, adding that it has helped to take care of some life-threatening ailments in that some people only discovered that they had some health challenges when they came for the free medical consultation offered by the group.

Beyond the medical mission, Owoaje disclosed that NAS as an advocacy group has used its research methodology tools to help government identify areas of needs of citizens and thus making it possible to address them. Receiving the medical items on behalf of Isheri Healthcare Centre, Dr.Wasiu Owoyele thanked members of NAS for identifying with Healthcare Centre, adding that the material and human resource support will go a long way in assisting indigent patients. He promised not only to put them to good use but to also distribute them equitably.

The medical donations included Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical workers, drugs of all types for different age categories and clutches for accident victims and the physically challenged.
