SDP Senatorial candidate for Nasarawa West, Mr Ahmed Wadada has pledged to renovate an abandoned police outpost which he constructed and donated to the Nigeria Police in Keffi, 13 years ago.
Wadada made the pledge when he led a delegation comprising the leadership of his campaign council and supporters on an on-the-spot assessment of the outpost, on Monday in Keffi Local Government, Nasarawa State.
The former two-term member of the House of Representatives said it has become necessary for him to renovate the abandoned outpost in order to ensure more security presence in the outskirts of Keffi town.
He said government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of providing security of lives and properties, hence the need for all citizens to contribute their qouta towards improving security in their localities.
Wadada, therefore, set-up a three-man committee headed by the D-Gl of his campaign council, Bello Ramalan, to liaise with the Keffi Divisional Police Officer to come up with modalities on how to ensure immediate renovation of the outpost.
He said: ” You will all recall that out of my desire to ensure the security of lives and properties of my constituents, I constructed and donated this police outpost to the Nigeria Police Force 13 years. ago.”
Wadada said that he built the structure when he represented Keffi, Kokona and Karu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly as part of his tangible achievements.
” The outpost also provide security to the Federal Government’s power distribution station against the activities of vandals in this area which is in the outskirts of Keffi.
” Also, this area is undergoing a lot of expansion, you can see many mechanics and panel beaters’ workshops and many residents are building houses, therefore, the area needs more security.
” And that was what informed my decision to see to the renovation of the abandoned police outpost. We will discuss with the police if they are still interested in the outpost then after renovation we will handover to them.
” But, if they are no longer interested in using the outpost, then after renovation, we will hand it over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC),” Wadada said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
