Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos West) has pledged to work for the recognition  and inclusion of the 37 Local Council Development Authorities (LCDAs) created by the Lagos State Government as local governments  in the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

He disclosed this during a meeting with stakeholders of Oshodi–Isolo council, as part of  his “House-to-House, Street-to-Street” campaign tour of the area comprising Oshodi Isolo, Isolo  and Ejigbo LCDAs. The senator said it was regrettable that it was a People’s Democratic Party-led Federal Government that frustrated the state’s attempt to redress the injustice and cheating in local government creation, among states, and stressed that it ii unjust for Lagos  to have only 20 councils while Kano State, with similar population, has as much as 44.

“For me, the created LCDAs in Lagos state were lawful; as decided by the highest court in the land and, only the PDP government of the past frustrated attempts to include them as councils in the Constitution. Now that we have an APC federal government, I am hopeful that the LCDAs would be included in the constitution. Already, the LCDAs have enough structures to rival most councils in the constitution,” said Adeola.

For this objective to be realised, he urged the electorate to vote for APC, from President Muhammadu Buhari, to return as president, and all the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates; as well as all other APC candidates.
