Creative industry luminary, Obi Asika has been described as a man with his fingers in so many pies that he might need more fingers. In the last decades, his influence on the Nigeria entertainment ecosystem cannot be overstated. Obi, 54 on October 3, is a soft power advocate and creative industries entrepreneur who is passionate about the opportunities that the creative and cultural industries provide for Nigeria, Africa, and the global black Diaspora.

He has been named to more “most powerful people” lists than we can count, so it’s only natural that he’s found worthy as a recipient of an honorary doctorate for his work in the creative industry. And penultimate Friday, Obi bagged an honorary doctorate degree in arts from the Myles Leadership University in Cotonou, Benin Republic. The recognition is for the Nigerian showbiz executive work as an ecosystem builder and pioneer in the digital, entertainment, and creative industries over the last three decades.
