The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), on Monday, came down hard on Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and his Anambra State counterpart, Chief Willie Obiano, over what the group termed unpleasant verbal war between the duo.

MASSOB, through its leader, Uchenna Madu, advised the two governors who have been going for each other jugular in the media war to keep quiet and end what it called unpleasant exchange of dirty pleasantries.

The group identified lack of unity, cohesion, understanding and commitment to the zone among the two Igbo governors as reasons for the recent ugly development, adding that the two governors have exhibited poor leadership character.

“The current poor leadership of South East Governors’ Forum under

Rochas  Okorocha and non cooperation of his colleagues have immensely affected the collective interest of Ndigbo in Nigeria, they placed their party interests ahead of Igbo interest, they have never condemned or spoken out against the unwarranted and unprovoked killings of our people by Northern sponsored Fulani herdsmen in Enugu,

Abia, Anambra and Imo states, also they have not condemned the sponsored genocide against the non violent Biafra agitators”

“During the era of Mr. Peter Obi as the Governor of Anambra state and Chairman of South East Governors’ forum, this rascality and embarrassment of Ndigbo did not occur because of his leadership quality which was anchored on Igbo interest first before party and personal interest. Mr. Peter Obi of Anambra state was the unifying factor of Igbo Governors’ Forum and Igbo interest even and the former governors that served with him worked as a family and spoke with one voice for the zone under the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi.”

The MASSOB leader further advised Governors Okorocha and Obiano, and indeed other Governors of South East to emulate the simplicity and humility of Mr. Peter Obi as the best Igbo Governor during his era.

“MASSOB warns that washing one’s dirty clothes in the public is not the best option and that political party interests can never be used in exchange for the general interest of Ndigbo. Today, our political detractors are happy celebrating this political madness that is capable of disorganising our people.

“As the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo assured of dismantling the embers of discord between the two governors, MASSOB warned the governors should know that Igbo land is bigger than them and they must cooperate with the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for a lasting peace and harmony in Igbo land.”
