• Bewarang joins team

Dream Team coach, Samson Siasia has confessed that he is happy Nigeria would not be facing Brazil in the quarter final of Rio 2016.

Siasia told Daily Sunsports exclusively after the game against Colombia in the Mix Zone of Arena Corinthian in Sao Paolo that Brazil would be more dangerous in the knock out stages having overcome their initial problems.

“That Brazil struggled in their first two games does not mean they are a bad side. Honestly, I would want to avoid them in the quarter final. I see them getting better with every game. They are the host and you know Brazil would always have a good side anytime any day, ” Siasia stated.

Brazil’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Denmark in their last group game yesterday saw them top Group A and with result, they will now face Colombia in a Latin America war while the Dream Team goes to war in Salvador against Denmark.

On the quarter final clash Siasia said the technical crew would work on the team’s problematic defense line.

He was however quick in pointing out that the attack is also not as effective as he would want it to be.

“Our problem against Colombia was not only at the rear. We conceded and had opportunities to get back into the game but the strikers were equally wasteful. In the quarter final things just have to be different if we must not go home without a medal. So, we will do our best to correct our mistakes,” Siasia said.

The Nigeria U23 delegation departed Sao Paulo on Thursday morning for Salvador, where the team confronts Denmark at the Arena Fonte Nova on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the National Technical Director, Mr. Bitrus Bewarang has arrived in Brazil to join the U23 team and offer technical support to Siasia ahead of the game against Denmark.
