The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) began a three-day training of 100 entrepreneurship teachers in Kebbi on Wednesday.

They would later teach students and youths on how to become entrepreneurs. Its Director-General, Mr Olawale Fasanya, said at the opening of the programme that the training was designed to enhance the capacity of entrepreneurship teachers in primary and secondary schools.

“The programme is to provide access to functional and hands-on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and community service education to every primary and secondary school student in the country.

“It is also aimed at assisting the students to exhibit creativity and innovation and to help them to identify their potentialities early enough and help to develop them,’’ he said. He noted that the entrepreneurship teachers must be entrepreneurs themselves.

Fasanya noted also that SMEDAN had always been at the forefront of advancing entrepreneurship and enterprise education in the country. He commended Kebbi for providing modern teaching and learning facilities in its schools.
