A businessman, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, has empowered 50 women with N1 million to enable them set up small scale businesses of their choice. He also distributed three shuttle buses, one truck and one Toyota Corolla to the youth.

The philanthropist distributed the vehicles and the money at his Umuawulu country home in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State as part of the activities to mark his 51st birthday.

Ekweozor, House of Representatives aspirant for Awka North and South Federal Constituency on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform and founder of Ide Global Movement (IGM), said that the money was to enable the women start their businesses at the community’s market.

The businessman, popularly known as Nwanayoeze, said that more people would be empowered in the town as he derives joy in putting smiles on the faces of the people.

The parish priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Umuawulu, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Odika, while blessing the vehicles, prayed God to enrich Chief Ekweozor so he could do more for the people. He advised the beneficiaries to use what they received very well and maximise whatever gains that come from there as it would help to alleviate their sufferings.

Traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, commended Ekweozor for adding value to the lives of his subjects and urged him not to relent in his good works to the community.
