More results collated for the presidential election in Sokoto State have shown that the All Progressive Congress (APC)’s President Muhammadu Buhari still maintained a lead of 84,370 voters ahead of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Our correspondent reports that results so far returned from 13 of 23 local government areas indicated that the incumbent president has garnered more votes in no fewer than ten LGAs while his closest rival, Abubakar of PDP has secured three LGAs.

The results are being collated by the State Collation Officer, Prof. Yakub Yahuza.

So far, ten LGAs won by President Buhari include Wamakko, Kware, Wurno, Illela, Gwabadawa, Rabbah, Sokoto North, Yabo, Kebbe and Sokoto South LGAs while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in Tureta, Silame and Isa.

The Collation Officer, Prof. Yakub, however stepped down the result from Bodinga LGA due to poor compilation on the part of the returning officer. He announced a time break of the exercise and fixed 11 am for its continuation.
