Ahead of the composition of a new cabinet by President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidates in the five South East states in the just held polls have called on the president to observe the principle of federal character in his appointments.

The group, in a communiqué released, yesterday, after its maiden conference held in Enugu, also lauded the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for setting up a power sharing committee, to ensure fair and equitable distribution of appointments, including federal boards and agencies.

The communiqué signed by the Coordinator, Onyedibe Toochukwu (Anambra), Secretary, Chiedozie Confidence (Enugu) and Publicity Secretary, Jude Okpor (Ebonyi), as well as representatives of Abia and Imo states, further congratulated Buhari and the national leadership of the APC on the party’s successes at the elections.

“We reviewed the performance of the APC in the South East in the last election and identified the need to synergise with the NWC, the various leaders of our party in the South East and the country at large, to ensure better performance in future elections.
