The speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamala has described Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Relations, House of Representatives, as a lawmaker who is deeply committed to the affairs of the House and the country at large.
Gbajabiamala articulated this position at a gathering held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja in honour of Hon. Buba who recently clocked 52.
Wishing Hon. Buba a happy birthday and many more happy years, the Speaker said that the lawmaker’s commitment to service and acts of national sacrifice were second to none in the House.
Gbajaniamila said: “Here is a man who is dedicated to the House and country in a very unique way. He has many times attracted public commendations for his hard work and dedication. His very comprehensive reports at the end of various assignments have in many ways helped the House on many important occasions. Hon. Buba’s self-sponsored trips to several Nigerian embassies and High Commissions is one act of selfless sacrifice that deserves applause by all.”
Among others, several law makers at the event also joined the House Speaker to commend Hon. Buba’s patriotism and wished him well as he begins another year on mother earth.
Meanwhile, in a related development, a talented 18 year-old artiste and 200 Civil Engineering student of Adeleke University, Emmanuel Enejoh presented Hon. Buba a portrait he painted of the assembly man to commemorate his birthday.
Presenting the painting, Enejoh who was beaming with smiles said: “I am honored to present this painting of himself to him. It took me a couple of weeks to put this together and I am so proud today as I make this presentation. Rt. Hon. Buba is a man who believes in hard work and dedication to country. He is patriotic and I feel that such Nigerians should be encouraged. This is my own way of celebrating him.”
Also speaking, his mum, Mercy Alexander, anchor and founder, D Gallery TV said: “I am very proud of my son. I am glad that he could come up with something like this. He is a talented kid no doubt and he has been drawing since he was five years-old. He is also a videographer and is tech savvy.”
