An official of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists in Nigeria (AHAPN) says engaging in sporting activities is critical in bringing out the best in pharmacists in terms of service delivery to the public.

Abubakar Danraka, an official of the association stated this in an interview after a novelty football match played between AHAPN Selected Football Team and Nasarawa Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) football team played in Lafia on Tuesday.

The novelty match is part of activities lined up for the Weeklong AHAPN 23rd Annual National Scientific Conference holding in Lafia from August 1 to 5 with the theme “COVID-19 Experience: Expanding the role of health system pharmacists.”  Despite conceding two goals to the AHAPN side in the first 20 minutes of the encounter, the NUJ team rallied and fought back to win the entertaining match 3-2. Speaking on the importance of sports, Danraka said fitness is very important for a pharmacist to be able to carry out his or her duty optimally hence the requirement that pharmacists engage in sporting activities regularly.

“As pharmacists, we always engage in sporting activities for us to be able to be fit to execute our pharmaceutical care services.
