Being a successful businessman and giving back to the society through multiple channels is a thing of joy to men of goodwill. This is where Stanley Uzochukwu, Founder/Chairman, Stanel group of companies belongs. 

Born on July 30, 1982, in Calabar, Cross River State, Uzochukwu had his early life and education in Jos Plateau State, where he attended Calvary Science School, St. Murumba College and Emmanuel International College before he proceeded to the University of Jos, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Botany. Upon graduation from the University, he ventured into petroleum products supply to corporate organisations until Stanel Oil was registered in 2012. 

Uzochukwu founded the Stanel Group in 2017 as a conglomerate with interests in marketing Premium Motor Spirit, Diesel, and Kerosene. His success story started when he got N150 million start-up capital without interest and collateral, a loan he returned after one year. He later diversified into the manufacturing and sale of automobile components as well as vehicle accessories for personal and industrial use.

In just a few years, Stanel Group has grown to become a major player in different sectors of the Nigerian economy, including hospitality, where he has invested over N10 billion in a project that is set to redefine the industry in Nigeria.

 In 2017, the Stanel Group’s ultra-modern complex, also known as Stanel World, was commissioned in Awka, Anambra State, capital. The complex has a farmers’ market with standby home delivery cars, a French bakery, a pharmacy, an automated automobile maintenance centre, a car wash, a 1,000-capacity chapel, a warehouse, a supermarket, staff quarters, a laundry, a spa, and a mega-event centre.

He also invested in a N1.5 billion massive gas plant, which is located along the 9th Mile-Awka Expressway between Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and the Anambra State Women Development Centre. 

Other articles of trade of the Stanel Group are Stanel Tyres, Stanel Engine Oil, and Stanel Gas Cylinders. 

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the Stanel Group commissioned streetlights in one of its immediate host communities, in Suleja, Niger State where Uzochukwu also built the Stanel World ‘One-Stop-Shop’ centre with a staff strength of about 500.

Popularly known for his humility, philanthropy, excellent achievements and job creation, Uzochukwu has committed himself to putting smiles on the faces of widows, Internally Displaced Persons, physically challenged persons, orphans and prison inmates in Nigeria.

For his skill in investing in strategic sectors, Stanley Uzochukwu is the winner of The Sun Investor of the Year Award 2022.
