Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Uchenna Madu, has warned a coalition of new pro-Biafran groups to stop giving Biafra’s self-determination struggle a bad name.

Madu, who lambasted the newly formed pro-Biafra group that threatened to declare Aba the capital of Biafra on January 1, said MASSOB did not subscribe to unnecessary distractions, unguided and insensitive actions of the new group, describing it as inconsequential and unplanned.

In a statement, the MASSOB leader said the level of Biafra’s self-determination struggle was no longer a propaganda as was earlier introduced by Ralph Uwazuruike.

“We are more coordinated now to face the realities of the struggle. MASSOB, BPNC, IPOB and Lower Niger Congress and other genuine pro-Biafra groups are more determined in the spirit of one accord for the actualisation and restoration of Biafra through the principles of non-violence and well-organised referendum for determination of Biafra’s sovereignty by the people of Biafra.

“People should not wake up in the morning and start shouting that Biafra will be declared in Aba or in Onitsha.

“MASSOB suspects that this so-called coalition of pro-Biafra groups that threatened to declare Aba, the commercial capital of Biafra, is sponsored to create artificial tension in Abia State. They want to divert attention.

“Genuine pro-Biafra groups have no intention or plan to declare Aba the commercial capital of Biafra on January 1 or any plan to hold mega rally in Aba.

“Though we have problem with Igbo regional leaders, our major disaffection lies with the Federal Government  under President Muhammadu Buhari, we are more concerned with our collective efforts in building synergies, collaboration and brotherhood among genuine pro-Biafra groups for onward movement for referendum.

“MASSOB also assured the people of Biafra that 2018 will be a better year of remembrance for our freedom from the series of subjections we found ourselves in Nigeria.

“Though we have no time frame for Biafra independence, we strongly believe that our spiritually-motivated brotherhood and synergies among the genuine pro-Biafra groups will break every iron bar of Nigeria government against Biafra,” Madu said.
